How a Fulham interior designer goes from blog to national press
What began with musings and mutterings on social media about interiors and my not-so “fabby darling” designer’s life has developed into guest blog spots with leading interior industry websites, press coverage in national press and several new business leads. This is my humble story of how a Fulham interior designer goes from blog to national press. It all started with a simple blog two years ago, entitled ‘Accentuate The Positive’ – an ode to a certain skill set that interior designers are trained in, and to some degree, are gifted with. It was also a way for me to share all the fabulous finds and design inspiration I came across in my travels.
Forward on to 2014 and my new website has launched hosting my refreshed blog ‘From The Designer’s Desk’. The blog is gaining more hits, interest and business leads. I now have over 2300 Twitter followers (thank you!) and I’m getting featured in mainstream media. I’ve been asked to be a regular interiors columnist, to write guest blogs and to be quoted in the press. You might say I’ve carefully crafted my little media snowball and I’m now casting it into the global marketplace. I hope it continues to grow.
My top tips to generating media coverage are:
1. Keep communicating. Embrace social media and get tweeting. Contacts are everything.
2. Superb photography. Position your product in the best possible light. Don’t skimp on photography.
3. Don’t be shy. Find the author within. Be confident and ask the media how you can help with their content in any way.
Here are some of my favourite pieces from the past 6 months.
